Friday Night Drinks Report # 13, November 13 2006

Last Friday's St. Martin's day FND at the Enoteca wine bar was truly a blockbuster event. A terriffic crowd of more than 70 turned up for a fun-filled evening of fresh new wine and lively FND-style celebrating. We were excited to see many familiar FND veterans turn up as well as a fresh crop of cheerful first-timers, from all over Europe and beyond.

We'd like to thank the Enoteka wine pub and Ljubljana Life magazine for sponsoring the free wine and snacks, as well as Jim's company Softdata, who sponsored the additional bottles of premium wine as giveaway prizes. Congrats to Alexis, Tom & Claire, and Barbara for picking the right numbers and taking home a bottle. We're still waiting for our dinner invitations! ;-)

As usual, we've got great photos of the evening up on the FND Photo Blog, as well as on the ICS website. We have also started a separate Friday Night Drinks blog which will contain past FND reports and other info. It's just in the beginning stages so you might want to check back occasionally.

Jim and I look forward to seeing everyone again in December, most likely on the 8th. Further details will be available on the website and also in the email invitation. Remember to send us the email address of any of your friends who are interested so that we can include them on the list.

See you next month!

Friday Night Drinks Report # 12, October 9 2006

Last Friday at the Breg 2 Gallery saw a fantastic crowd of 50+ FNDers. The free wine was a nice touch, at least for those who arrived early, and as usual we saw plenty of new faces from countries far and wide. The location worked surprisingly well so we may end up returning there again in the near future. The 7 free T-shirts were also a big hit -- congrats to our winners Dominik, Michel, Donna, Rick, Maija, and Jules. And then here was the Belgian student who took the initiative to declare himself a winner... but we tracked him down later at the Guiness Pub and demanded free drinks!

We've got photos of the evening up on the FND Photo Blog, so if you weren't there on Friday, click on the link and check out the fun you missed! If anyone else has some good pics they would like to share, please send them to us via a link or email.

Special thanks again to Mark at Sloveniarelo.com for sponsoring the free shirts -- and also the Breg 2 Cafe & Gallery for the free wine. Jim and I look forward to seeing everyone again next month. More details about the date and location will be announced via email and also on the website www.fridaynightdrinks.com. Be sure to pass the word along to anyone else who might be interested.

Friday Night Drinks Report # 11, September 3 2006

A big thanks to the 40+ FNDers who turned up for our first event of the season. We had a great crowd on Friday at the Premier Pub, with many new faces from places like Australia, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Holland, Italy, Lebanon, the UK, the US, and elsewhere. Several newcomers asked us to show them where the other FNDers were in the room, and the answer was quite simple - everyone!

Special thanks once again to Mark at Sloveniarelo.com for sponsoring our 30 free drinks -- as the first FNDer to arrive on the scene he was also the winner of a free Ljubljana polo shirt!

As usual, we've got some neat photos of the evening up on the FND Photo Blog, so if you weren't there on Friday, click on the link and check out the fun you missed!

Jim and I look forward to seeing everyone again next month. More details about the date and location will be announced via email and also on the website www.fridaynightdrinks.com. Be sure to pass the word along to any of your friends who might be interested.

Friday Night Drinks Report # 10, July 10 2006

Our final event of the season ended with a bang! At around 10 or 11 pm (who's keeping track of the time anyway?) we counted over 60 FNders in the house, which is another record-breaking turnout. Everyone appeared to be having a great time, and the food was definitely a hit as it disappeared very quickly. The party blasted on til about 1am, after which the friendly Marines suggested we start to leave (and we didn't argue). They had their hands full serving us drinks all evening, and we were hoping they'd invite us back again some time, so we chose not to stand our ground ;-)

We've got some great photos of the evening up on the FND Photo Blog, so have a look - you might even spot a famous celebrity or two. Congrats to our 5 T-shirt winners who identified the right tunes during the evening.

Special thanks to the Marines for hosting the event (keep your eyes open for their charity ball in November) and our wonderful sponsors: the Ernst & Young company and Gorski Gregor for sponsoring free food for the event, as well as Sloveniarelo.com, who provided the 5 free FND T-shirts as give-away prizes!

We look forward to seeing you again in September!

FND Report # 9, June 24 2006

We had another fantastic evening, with a record turnout of at least 40 FNDers on Friday. Maybe it was in part due to World Cup fever, but certainly our repeat offer of 30 free drinks didn't hurt either, thanks to our sponsor Sloveniarelo.com.

A few more new faces turned up this month, from Canada, Denmark, Slovenia, Switzerland, the UK, the US, and elsewhere. We have a some snapshots of the evening already posted on the FND photo blog, so if you weren't there on Friday, check out the fun you missed. Several brave FNDers also conducted interviews for TV Slovenia's Tednik program. Now if we could only remember what we actually said on camera... ;-)

As usual, we look forward to seeing you again next month. This time it will be a special event on July 7th at the Marine House, with free food and drinks for those interested to come early. Please let us know if you plan to be there for the eating part (starting at 7pm) so that we know how much food to order. More details about the location, etc. will be announced soon by email and also on the website www.fridaynightdrinks.com.

Hope to see you on the 7th...
