Thanks to all who turned up for FND last Friday at the Opera Bar! We had a wonderful turnout last Friday (despite the freezing weather) and a rockin' good evening thanks in part to our friends in the Blow Up band. Ernie and his pals, along with special guest Robert McKenzie, fired up another fantastic performance...you can catch a video of one of their songs on our Facebook page, as well as some nice photos of the evening on our photographer's website.

Friday Night Drinks at Opera Bar
Attention FNDers!
The next Friday Night Drinks will be taking place this coming Friday, February 3rd, at the Opera Bar, located on Cankarjeva cesta (kitty-corner from Ljubljana's Opera House). A handful of current FNDers may recall that the Opera Bar was one of our earliest and most popular FND hangouts, the place where the event first started to gain wider recognition among the expat community. And now after a rather long period of 'exile' wandering between venues in Ljubljana's small but lively center, we look forward to returning to Opera Bar for a look back to our "glory days"... this time with a hopefully larger crowd and a lively Rock 'n Roll performance by our friends in the Blow Up band! The fun will start at about 9:00pm - if you are new to FND look for us inside by the bar. Remember to mark the date on your calendar, and invite some friends or colleagues to join us... as usual the more FNDers the merrier!

PS: We will also be experimenting with some different approaches to FND this year. We would like to encourage all of our members to help initiate and organize any events that they think may be of interest to others in the FND community. Any idea is open for consideration, whether purely for fun or educational in nature. One example would be the Cognitive Theater Workshop that one of our members, Carlos Pascual is currently organizing, and another is the ICS Photo Club, organized by Gerry & Erin Babnik, which consists of about a dozen or more FNDers. Other possible ideas might include events relating to food/cooking, language learning, or just a more frequent FND meetup in addition to our (usually) once-a-month events. We are eager to keep the momentum going with FND, so let's see what we can all do if we work together... if you happen to have any ideas, please send them to Gerry@fridaynightdrinks.com or write something on the wall of the FND Facebook group.

FND Christmas party!
Friday Night Drinks will be holding its end-of-year FND Christmas party tonight starting at 8:30pm at the newly-reopened AS Lounge. Please join us and help celebrate the holiday spirit while having a fun evening with FND friends from around the world. There's a good chance the venue might be busy, but we'll have our own "FND corner" as well as free welcome drinks for those who arrive early...

October Friday Night Drinks at Dvorni Bar
Attention FNDers!
Friday Night Drinks is occupying Dvorni Bar tommorrow evening, Oct. 21st starting at 8:30pm. We'll be rockin' the tunes again this month - with a live performance by our fabulous friends in the Smokin' Aliens band. So join us Friday as we make a stand for our hard-earned right to gather freely with fellow FND comrades and enjoy a few (or many) drinks together with our Alien band member pals... or something to that effect. And be sure to invite a friend or two and help us spread the word globally so that everyone can join us for a rocking good time! :-)

Friday Night Drinks Report # 55
Thanks to all who turned up for Friday Night Drinks last week at Hugo Barrera. We had a very lively crowd this month, with a number of cheerful new faces (including three wild and crazy gals from Portugal... anyone remember their names?). We also enjoyed a fantastic live performance by the Blow-Up band... their songs just keep getting better and better as the night moves on!

FND at Hugo Barrera with the Blow Up Band
Friday Night Drinks will be returning this coming Friday, Sept 30 to the Hugo Barrera club. We'll have music this time and lots of it - with a live performance by Ernie and his pals in the Blow Up band. We'll also have free welcome drinks for all FNDers who arrive between 9 and 9.30 pm. So join us and invite a friend or two, and hopefully discover a few new ones as well!

Friday Night Drinks at Jazz Club Gajo
Friday Night Drinks is finally returning this Friday after a long summer break. We'll be meeting at the Jazz Club Gajo, a fantastic outdoor venue located on Cankarjeva cesta between the Opera house and Tivoli Park.
We hope you'll join us on Friday to help kick off the new season of FND! We'll have a group of tables reserved for FNDers somewhere close to the bar. So remember to mark the date on your calendar and invite any of your friends who'd like to join us!
In the event of bad weather, our backup plan is to meet down the street at the Opera bar.

Friday Night Drinks at Stara Macka
Friday Night Drinks is returning tonight to the newly reopened "Old Cat" (aka Stara Macka), located next door to the well-known Macek Pub in Ljubljana's old town. We'll have some free snacks inside and some great Latin music for you as well, so join us for a fun-filled, international evening along the banks of the river in Ljubljana's old town.
