Friday Night Drinks is occupying Dvorni Bar tommorrow evening, Oct. 21st starting at 8:30pm. We'll be rockin' the tunes again this month - with a live performance by our fabulous friends in the Smokin' Aliens band. So join us Friday as we make a stand for our hard-earned right to gather freely with fellow FND comrades and enjoy a few (or many) drinks together with our Alien band member pals... or something to that effect. And be sure to invite a friend or two and help us spread the word globally so that everyone can join us for a rocking good time! :-)

Friday Night Drinks Report # 55

Thanks to all who turned up for Friday Night Drinks last week at Hugo Barrera. We had a very lively crowd this month, with a number of cheerful new faces (including three wild and crazy gals from Portugal... anyone remember their names?). We also enjoyed a fantastic live performance by the Blow-Up band... their songs just keep getting better and better as the night moves on!

FND at Hugo Barrera with the Blow Up Band

Friday Night Drinks will be returning this coming Friday, Sept 30 to the Hugo Barrera club. We'll have music this time and lots of it - with a live performance by Ernie and his pals in the Blow Up band. We'll also have free welcome drinks for all FNDers who arrive between 9 and 9.30 pm. So join us and invite a friend or two, and hopefully discover a few new ones as well!

Friday Night Drinks at Jazz Club Gajo

Friday Night Drinks is finally returning this Friday after a long summer break. We'll be meeting at the Jazz Club Gajo, a fantastic outdoor venue located on Cankarjeva cesta between the Opera house and Tivoli Park.

We hope you'll join us on Friday to help kick off the new season of FND! We'll have a group of tables reserved for FNDers somewhere close to the bar. So remember to mark the date on your calendar and invite any of your friends who'd like to join us!

In the event of bad weather, our backup plan is to meet down the street at the Opera bar.

Friday Night Drinks at Stara Macka

Friday Night Drinks is returning tonight to the newly reopened "Old Cat" (aka Stara Macka), located next door to the well-known Macek Pub in Ljubljana's old town. We'll have some free snacks inside and some great Latin music for you as well, so join us for a fun-filled, international evening along the banks of the river in Ljubljana's old town. The fun will start at 8:30pm - if you are new to FND look for us inside by the bar, and remember to invite some friends or colleagues to join us... as usual the more the merrier!

Friday Night Drinks at Hugo Barrera

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be taking place this coming Friday, April 8th at the Hugo Barrera club (located between Preseren square and the main marketplace). We have a groovy night planned for all of you with a special live interstellar performance by our favorite band of Smokin' Aliens! The fun will start as usual at about 8:30pm - if you are new to FND please look for us downstairs by the bar. The entrance is free if you arrive before 10pm, and you'll even get a free drink ( as long as it's a flaming B-52 cocktail :-)

Be sure to mark the date on your calendar and pass the word along to any friends who might like to join the fun. Once again, keep in mind that for chatting and making new acquaintances, it's best to arrive early before the band starts cranking out their tunes at about 10pm... after that, the party will be in full swing!

Friday Night Drinks Report # 54

Thanks to all who turned up last week for Friday Night Drinks at Hugo Barrera. We had a very interesting crowd this month and another lively performance by the Blow-up band.

Our usual FND photographer, Ian Middleton, wasn't able to make it last Friday (he just became a father!), but we were fortunate to have another FNDer with camera. A big thanks to Miroslava Andric for taking some great photos, which you can see on our facebook page. You can find more samples of her work here.

February's Friday Night Drinks will be taking place this coming Friday, Feb 11 at the Hugo Barrera club -- located in the center of town just beside Preseren square and the main marketplace. We'll be starting as usual at about 8:30pm - if you are new to FND please look for us downstairs by the bar. This time we'll have another performance by Ernie and the gang from the Blow up band. Friday Night Drinks 2010 Holiday Party!

December is upon us, and with the early arrival of winter this year the holiday season is in full gear... so get ready for the annual Friday Night Drinks holiday party this coming Friday, December 10th. We'll be meeting at the Gostilna Lovec starting at 8:30pm (located at Trg Mladinskih Delovnih Brigad 1, on the corner of Presernova & Rimska cesta, just down the street from Cankarjev dom & the Presidential building). The restaurant has promised us a nice selection of free buffet food, compliments of the house, which will include an assortment from their new Macedonian themed menu.

We'll be meeting again at one of our usual stomping grounds, the Dvorni Bar, located on Dvorni trg in Ljubljana's old town. Friday Night Drinks Report # 51

Thanks to all who turned up for Friday Night Drinks at Sputnik last Friday. We enjoyed a very good turnout, despite the off-center location, and witnessed another excellent performance by the Blow-Up band. Everyone seemed to agree that Sputnik was the perfect venue for an event like FND, so we'll definitely be returning back again in the coming months. The place had an excellent dance floor, which really started rockin' after midnight!

Friday Night Drinks this Friday at SPUTNIK

The next Friday Night Drinks will be starting this coming Friday, October 8th at 8:30pm at the Sputnik Café in Vic (Tržaška cesta 128, located just behind the petrol station by the LJ ring road). Although it's a bit farther from the center compared to most of our FND events, Sputnik is a fantastic venue and we think everyone will really enjoy it. The Blow Up band will be on stage once again performing another great selection of tunes for us, so it should be another fun and lively evening as always.

Thanks to all who turned up for Friday Night Drinks at Hugo Barrera's last weekend. We had a very fun and lively evening with a great turnout, and another fine performance by the Blow-Up band. Thanks to Hugo's for providing everyone with free welcome drinks and snacks... we have to say the B52s were definitely a hit! :-)

We'd also like to thank our friends at the Nativo Language School for sponsoring the very first FND Slovene lesson on Friday. It turned out to be loads of fun so we hope to do this kind of activity more often! For anyone interested Nativo also offers a free introductory lesson at their school as well, so contact them directly if you are interested.

Friday Night Drinks returns this Friday at Hugo Barrera!

The new season of Friday Night Drinks will be starting this Friday, 17 September at the Hugo Barrera club (Adamič Lundrovo nabrežje 5), located by the funky new bridge at Ljubljana's central marketplace. The event will be starting at 8:30pm, with a live performance by the Blow-Up band soon to follow sometime after 9pm. Our previous event at Hugo Barrera's was quite popular, be sure to make a note on your calendar, and as usual, feel welcome to invite a friend or two!

Everyone interested is also welcome to join us an hour early at 7:30pm for a free FND Slovene lesson (and possibly a free drink as well), compliments of the Nativo Language School. Nativo offers a variety of Slovene language courses geared towards members of the international community living in Ljubljana. If you can't make it for the free lesson this Friday, they also offer a free introductory lesson at their school as well -- but please do join us on Friday if possible, it should be quite fun!

Friday Night Drinks Tonight at Kavarna SEM

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be happening Tonight, 18 June starting at 8:30pm. We'll be meeting at the Kavarna SEM (near Metelkova) for our final FND event before the summer break. Look for us just outside by the entrance to the cafe, which is located in the same building as the Slovene Ethnographic Museum. So take a break from the World Cup (or come and join us to celebrate your team's victory!) and kick back with some refreshing drinks and FND fun. There will also be Salsa dancing inside the cafe, so if you're in the mood bring along your dancing shoes!

Thanks to all who turned up for Friday Night Drinks at Dvorni Bar last Friday. We had a very exciting evening with a great turnout and some fine performances by the ICS Band. FND + ICS Concert at Dvorni Bar

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be on the 28th of May at the Dvorni Bar, starting at 8pm. Join us for a fun evening of food, friends (and hopefully also some free drinks) as we get set to kick off the summer season.

March FND at Dvorni Bar this Friday!

Friday Night Drinks is back again this month after a short break for February. Join us for another fun-filled evening starting at 8:30pm this coming Friday, March 12 at the Dvorni Bar, located at Dvorni trg in Ljubljana's old town. We'll have free finger food for all of our members, compliments of the house, and lots of good company as usual from around the world.

This will be the final FND event for two of our favorite long-time FNDers, Leo and Michelle, who will be moving to Paris very soon, so come and join us for a final farewell toast to wish them both well in their relocation. Also, St. Patrick's day is just around the corner, so feel welcome to wear your greens or even dress up like a leprechaun if so inspired :-)

Thanks to all who turned up for Friday Night Drinks at the Bon Appetit French restaurant in Ljubljana last Friday. We enjoyed a very nice turnout that included a sizable number of first-time FNDers from various countries including Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the US, the UK, Brazil, and Venezuela.

As with our event at Bon Appetit last year, we were very pleased with the way the venue worked out this month. Many thanks to the owner Serge for offering us all a free glass of wine for the occasion of the Beaujolais Nouveau festival.

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be taking place at 8pm this Friday, 20 November, at the Bon Appetit French restaurant in Ljubljana (Miklosiceva 28, next to the Kinoteka).

Come and join us for a free glass of French wine to help celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau festival of new wine! Last year's FND event at Bon Appetit was hugely popular, so be sure to mark the date on your calendar and pass the word along to any friends who might wish to join the fun!

FND Report # 42 ... our largest event ever!!

A very big thanks to all who turned up for last week's Friday Night Drinks at the Bachus Center in Ljubljana last Friday. We had a record-breaking turnout and a fine performance by the ICS Band! The venue worked out quite well and was just the right size for the evening, at least until the band stopped playing and the regular 'clubbers' came pouring in! Gerry has posted a Video of one of the evening's songs on Facebook for anyone who is interested to have a look.

We'd like to thank Dirk, Astrid, Donna and all the members of the band for putting on a great show for us, and we especially wish Dirk and Astrid all the best at their new locations.
Our new photographer, Ian Middleton, has posted some fantastic photos of the evening online (you can also find older FND photos on the FND Flicker site). Ian offers a new photography service in which people are portrayed in a more natural environment, rather than in the confines of a studio, and is available for all manner of portrait work and special events. Thanks to all who turned up for Friday Night Drinks at the Hotel Slon Cafe in Ljubljana last Friday. We had a good turnout and a very enjoyable evening for our first event of the season, with a number of friendly new faces joining us. Friday Night Drinks Tonight at Slon Cafe

You may have noticed that we are starting the Friday Night Drinks season a bit late this year, so let's not waste any time! FND is now back to business as usual, starting with an impromptu event tonight at the Hotel Slon. We'll be meeting at the corner cafe of the Slon starting at 8pm - the entrance is directly adjacent to the city's main post office on Slovenska cesta.

We are also working on organizing a second event this month on the 23rd, which will include a live performance by the ICS band. We have a few fellow FNDers who will be leaving town very soon, so this would be a nice way to give them a big sendoff and wish them well at their new destinations.

Friday Night Drinks at Vale-Novak

Attention FNDers!

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be happening this Friday, 29 May at 8:00pm. This coming event will be slightly different than usual. We will start the evening at the Vale-Novak bookstore on Wolfova street (near Preseren square), where from at 8pm to 9pm we'll enjoy some free champagne. One of our fellow FNDers, Erica Johnson-Debeljak, will be presenting her new book Forbidden Bread, about her life and experience in Slovenia, and will be happy to answer any questions. The bookstore will also be offering a special 10% discount to any FNDers who might like to purchase the book (or anything else in the store).

At 9:00pm we'll be moving a short walk around the corner to the AS Lounge to continue with FND as usual. Here we'll meet directly by the bar, in the covered open-air space (not inside the restaurant). The AS Lounge is usually fairly crowded in the evening, but we'll have some tables and standing space near the bar reserved for us.

Here is the tentative plan for the next FND on 29 May: we will start the evening at the Vale Novak bookstore on Wolfova street (near Preseren square) at 8pm, where we'll have some free champaign. Sorry for not posting this to the blog sooner...

The holiday season may be long over, but the good news is that Friday Night Drinks is returning this Friday, 23 January, at 8:00pm at the Bachus Center in Ljubljana, located at Kongressni trg 3 (you can see the entrance across the park from the Philharmonic building). This is our first event of 2009, so be sure to come and help us kick off another exciting year of FND, and join us for a good-luck toast to the new American president, who takes office this Tuesday.

Thanks to all who turned up for last week's Friday Night Drinks at the Dvorni Bar in Ljubljana. We had a stupendous evening, with quite possibly the highest turnout for any of our events! Special thanks to the ICS Band for cranking out some great tunes on Friday despite the challenging acoustics and an erratic sound system that was not quite up to par with their debut performance two months ago. In any event, they deserve lots of credit for a job well done and we'll be happy to welcome them back again next year.

Sorry for the late notice about this... we received an email from our friend Serge at Bon Appetit this week with the following special offers for FNDers:

1. Beaujolais Nouveau

• On Thursday the 20th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (and later if needed) : we will welcome the Beaujolais Nouveau ! On that and only that day, either for eating or just for degustating, the first glass will be offered free !
• Until Friday the 28th, Bon Appétit will be open everyday (incl. Sat. and Sun.) from 12:00 am to 12:pm

The next Friday Night Drinks is still few weeks away, but there are some other events happening this week that may be of interest to FNDers:

1. The ICS Band, which is composed of a group of fellow FNDers, is performing live for the first time in Ljubljana. Here are the details:
VENUE: Sax House bar/restaurant, Trnovski Pristan 4a (in Trnovo along the Ljubljanica river; website: www.sax.si)
WHEN: 8:30pm, this Friday 24th October.
TYPE of MUSIC: mainly classic pop/rock songs of the sixties & seventies, and a few more...

2. The Guinness Laughter Lounge is starting up again this weekend, with a performance by the veteran comedian Carey Marx from the UK. We have two free tickets for this Saturday's performance, which we will give away randomly. To qualify, you must create (if you haven't already) or update your profile on the FND website by tomorrow. Just add some more data, upload a photo, connect with a friend, or post a comment on someone else's profile. That's all you need to do for a chance to win!

3. Last but not least, Queen Elizabeth II is visiting Slovenia. According to our inside sources, "she will visit Lipica, Ljubljana castle, attend a Duke of Edinburgh Award ceremony at the Philharmonic and will go on a walk about Ljubljana at 14:30 tomorrow." Rumor has it that she's a big fan of FND, so perhaps she'll join us in town for a drink as well! :D

Thanks to all who turned up for last week's Friday Night Drinks at the Bon Appetit French restaurant. We had a really fun evening with a record turnout... we're not sure of the exact number, but by 10.30pm the restaurant had already given away 130 free welcome drinks ...and this not even counting the 'extra' free drinks for the first 40 who signed up on our new website! Judging by the large number of new emails we've collected, we also had a record number of first-time FNDers this month.

FND, the economy, and the FND-book

Well folks, the economy may be tanking but rest assured that Friday Night Drinks is doing it's part to help stimulate consumption ;-) Our next event will be this Friday, 10 October at 8:00pm at the Bon Appetit French restaurant located on Miklosiceva 28 (in the basement of Kinoteka), with free food and free drinks sponsored by our great friends at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Congrats to the first 20 FNDers who signed up for the new FND social network - two free drinks will be waiting for each of them on Friday! Thus far 27 FNDers have joined... still a way to go before we catch up with Facebook, but we're working on it :-) Gerry has also added some new profile questions, so if you were one of the first to sign up, please come back and share your answers. The next Friday Night Drinks will be on 10 October at 8:00pm. This month we'll be meeting at the Bon Appetit French restaurant located on Miklosiceva 28. This will be a very special event, with free food and plenty of free drinks, thanks to our good friends at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Thanks to all who turned up for last week's Friday Night Drinks at the Stara Macka restaurant. We had a really good evening with an excellent turnout of 80+ FNDers from all over the globe. We've already posted some photos of the evening up on the FND photo blog for anyone who'd like to take a look.

There were an incredible number of new people on Friday, from countries near and far including Australia, Britain, Canada, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Slovenia, Sweden, Venezuela, and elsewhere. Thanks to all who turned up for last week's Friday Night Drinks at the Pizzicato restaurant in Ljubljana. It was a very enjoyable evening and a we had great crowd turn up as usual, including good number of first-time FNDers joining us from countries near and far. It was a perfect evening for watching the EuroCup game and enjoying drinks with friends outdoors. Thanks to all FNDers who turned up for our very first Pub Crawl last Friday. Our starting and ending venue for the evening, the Dvorni Bar, worked out perfectly and we enjoyed a great turnout as well. We did have a few challenges with overcrowding at the other pubs, but this has never been an excuse for determined FNDers in the past! As usual we have some great photos of the evening up on the FND photo blog, and we have also posted a must-see video of the evening's hilarious helium-filled finale!

FND Pub Crawl on 14 December!

This month's Friday Night Drinks will take place Friday, December 14th at the newly renovated and expanded Dvorni Bar located at Dvorni trg 2 (close by the Slovene Philharmonic). We have planned a special Pub Crawl for this months event... we'll start the evening at the Dvorni Bar between 7:00 and 8.30pm and will join with other expats from the ICS gang (the International Club of Slovenia) for a crazy night on the town.

We'll be moving from the Dvorni Bar starting at 8:30 and stopping first at the Cutty Sark pub for some free pizza (while supplies last) and then heading over to the Guinness Pub for free shots of something blue, before finally heading back to the Dvorni Bar for the highlight of the evening, which includes helium balloons, silly drinking games and giveaway prizes (a free dinner for two, bottles of wine, and 30 Pub Crawl T-shirts!).

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be next Friday, November 16th at 8pm at the Da Bu Da Thai restaurant at Subiciva 1a in Ljubljana (next to Maximarket). We will have free food for you again this month, thanks to our newest sponsor, PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

The restaurant has prepared a tasty menu including: Spring rolls, Curry fish cakes, Chicken satay, and Cajun chicken strips, along with a special welcome drink cocktail. The food will be served as soon as the first 20 people arrive, so be sure to come early - it won't last forever!

Friday Night Drinks Report # 22

Thanks to all who turned up at the Pizzicato on Friday, Sept. 12th. The location was excellent, although at times there was barely enough space inside to accommodate the swelling ranks of 70+ FNDers who turned up. We looked a bit like sardines at one point, though the food still managed to last for a couple hours (or maybe some couldn't even get to the food?). Fortunately, the action was underway outdoors as well, and many FNDers took the opportunity to head outside for a breather, or just as likely, a (cough) cigarette.

Once again it was a very international nite last Friday with guests from all around the world, many of whom joined us for the first time. Some brief FND-ish announcements...

Here are a few odd ideas we've been tossing around lately:

1. "Saturday Morning Hangover Club"... we've done this in the past on several occasions, meeting for breakfast the morning after FND. We could try it again next month if enough people are interested.

2. "Friday Night Drinks Slovene Lessons"... I'm sure you either love the idea or hate it, but either way send us your thoughts about how interested you are to learn some new vocabulary while hanging out in a pub. It could be a monthly event, mainly for fun, unless someone serious is willing to organize meetings weekly :-)

3. FND Marketplace... many of you likely have things in mind to buy or sell, so we are thinking of setting up a special section on the FND blog for short announcements. Just send your message to Gerry and he'll post it on the blog as well as on the Ljubljana Life message forum.

Friday Night Drinks Report # 21

Thanks to all who attended our first event of the season at Macek last Friday. The location worked out exceptionally well and there was just enough space to accommodate the 70+ FNDers who turned up during the evening. It was an exceptionally international gathering this time, with literally dozens of countries represented from Australia to Venezuela. Our mailing list is now more than 300 names and growing, so hopefully we'll continue to see such diverse gatherings in the future.

FND at Macek Pub in Ljubljana

Get ready FNDers...

Tomorrow is our first Friday Night Drinks of the season, and we'll be meeting at the Macek pub located at Krojaska 5, right in the very heart of Ljubljana's riverside entertainment strip (the main entrance is on Cankarjevo nabrezje). We'll be meeting at 8pm so try to come early as Macek starts to get busy very quickly. We have reserved a corner of the pub to the left of the main entrance nearby the television, so look for us there. Some of you may be hoping to watch the opening match of the rugby world championship, which we will have on screen.

It's been a good long while since our FND Pub night gathering back in July. It's time now for yet another season of FND, and our first event will be this Friday, September 7th. We have not yet selected the final location, but it will be somewhere in Ljubljana's old town and you can rest assured that we'll be serving up some free drinks and plenty of fun as usual!

FND Shirt Alert!

Dear FNDers,

It has come to our attention that there have been some "fake FNDers" making appearances around town during the summer holidays. A phony FND impostor can be identified as somebody wearing a fake FND T-shirt such as this one:

It may indeed closely resemble one of our official shirts (probably made in China) but if you look closely you will notice subtle differences which are dead giveaways (i.e. no website address, nonsensical gibberish below the letters FND, and an overall lack of a clue on the person wearing the shirt). Real FNDers look like more like the people wearing the shirts below and can be identified as much by their wild and crazy antics as by the particular clothing that they wear.

So if you happen to see an FND impostor, tie him up and drag him to our next meeting where we can teach him about proper FND etiquette, or at least steal the shirt so we can burn it! ;-)

Hola! FNDers,

The next Friday Night Drinks will be this Friday, 22 June at 8:30pm. We'll be meeting at the Don Felipe Spanish restaurant at Streliska 22 (near the road leading up to the Ljubljana Castle. There will be free food for us this month (tasty tapas) thanks to our kind sponsors at Pedersen & Partners and Ljubljana Life Magazine. Friday Night Drinks Report #19

Last Friday's FND at the Marine House in Ljubljana was fantastic fun, and the turnout proved to be very good even despite the Laibach concert happening in town the same evening. Friday Night Drinks Report # 18

Last Friday's FND at the Trattoria was very nice evening. The venue worked out quite well this time, and with summer weather arriving, it's great to have a place where FNDers can hang out comfortably both indoors and out. The turnout this time was a bit lower than usual, possibly due to the 'Friday the 13th' factor... or perhaps many of us simply decided to head to the coast to make the most of the perfect weather. In any case, we were certainly far from besting last months perfect FND storm.

The food on Friday was a welcome treat, so we would like thank the Trattoria restaurant and Ljubljana Life magazine for sponsoring the evening, as well as Sloveniarelo.com for sponsoring free drinks and t-shirts. Friday the 13th FND!

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be happening on Friday this week at 8:30pm. We will be meeting at a new restaurant called Trattoria, located in the old town at Gornji trg 33 (just a few doors away from the Spajza restaurant).

There will be some free food again (although not as much as last month) and free welcome drinks for everyone, for which we'd like to thank the restaurant and Ljubljana Life Magazine for co-sponsoring the event. And to top things off, Mark from Sloveniarelo.com will also be sponsoring some additional free drinks and will bring a few more free shirts to give away as well!

We all look forward to seeing you at the Trattoria on Friday. This will be a special 'Friday the 13th' FND, so don't forget to cross your fingers, avoid any black cats on the way to town, and wear your favorite good-luck charm. Even better, bring along a friend or two, superstitious or otherwise!

FND Report # 17, March 16, 2007

What a night! I think that most of us 'regulars' would agree that last Friday's FND at the Evropa was a step into new territory. We filled up the spacious hall quite well with a record turnout of over 140 FNDers, and the consensus seemed to be that the location was just about perfect! As usual, we've got some photos of the evening up on the FND Photo Blog, so if you weren't there this weekend, check out the fun you missed!

The food on Friday was excellent, so we would like to give special thanks to Adin at Newspaper Direct for sponsoring the evening, as well as the Evropa restaurant, which co-sponsored the buffet dinner. For anyone who is unfamiliar with Newspaper Direct, they offer same-day delivery of hundreds of major newspapers from around the world. Check their website or contact them by email for more details.

Thanks again and a big farewell to Juan Roque, who was generous enough to sponsor 50 free drinks on Friday -- we wish him well at his new assignment in North Carolina. Also, congrats to Frank for winning a free bottle of Movia wine as well as Leonardo for winning a bottle of Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey (didn't he also win a bottle of Irish whiskey at last year's St. Patrick's day FND???).

The following night, on Saturday, March 17, a number of FNDers also showed up for Joan McIntyre's annual St. Patrick's day party at the Emonska klet, and as usual it was a wild and crazy evening. Too bad it only happens once a year!

Reminder, St' Patrick's day FND this Friday

Don't forget to schedule this Friday, March 16th on your calendar. We will be having a special pre-St. Patrick's day Friday Night Drinks event, starting at 8:00pm, complete with a free buffet-style dinner and welcome drink for everyone, thanks to our newest sponsor, the Newspaper Direct company. We'll be meeting this time at the Evropa cafe & restaurant at Slovenska 47 in Ljubljana (on the corner with Gosposvetska), which is also co-sponsoring the food.

Friday Night Drinks pre-St. Patty's day event

The next Friday Night Drinks will be at 8:00pm on 16 March and will be an extra-special occasion. We're calling it our pre-St. Patrick's day FND event! We'll be meeting this time at the Evropa cafe & restaurant at Slovenska 47 (on the corner with Gosposvetska). Last Friday was a rockin'-good time at the Premier Pub. We filled up the place quite well with a hefty turnout of 60+ FNDers. February's Friday Night Drinks

This month's Friday Night Drinks will be happening this coming Friday, Feb 9 at 8:30 pm at the Premier Pub, located on Petkovskovo nabrezje (opposite the river from the main marketplace). Look for the FND logo by the entrance to the pub... we'll have pretty much the entire pub reserved this time.

It's been quite some time since we've had an event at one of Ljubljana's 'traditional' style pubs, so I'm sure that many of you will be looking forward to the evening. The pub has offered all FNDers a free welcome drink (unfortunately, some sweet, sugary poison). Thankfully, our good friend Mark from Sloveniarelo.com has volunteered to step up and sponsor some additional free drinks, and he'll also bring along a few polo shirts to give away as well. His drinks will be first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early!

January's FND at the Bachus wine bar was a terrific event! Just 5 days into the new year, a lively crowd turned up for a wonderful evening of post holiday cheer. A Happy FND New Year!

The holiday celebrations may be over, but the good news is that the next Friday Night Drinks will be this Friday, 5 January at the Bachus Center wine bar, on Kongresni trg. We will be meeting at 8:30pm as usual -- the Bachus Center has a number of rooms, so be sure to look for us upstairs in the mezzanine level wine bar.

We have arranged with the bar that all FNDers will receive a free welcome drink -- be sure to ask for a free drink coupon when you arrive. Also, our fellow FNDers Nico and Sunita will be leaving Slovenia soon and have promised to sponsor another 50 free drinks as a farewell gesture to everyone in the FND community. These drinks will be first come, first served, so be sure to arrive early if you are thirsty!

The fireworks may indeed be over, but join us this Friday to help kick-start 2007 with an FND-style celebration... and as usual, bring along a friend or two to join in the fun!

FND Report # 14, December 8th 2006

Last Friday's FND Christmas party at the Enoteca wine bar was truly a blast! A lively crowd of about 80 FNDers turned up for a jolly-good celebration. We had a good mix of the usual FND veterans as well as plenty of new faces from countries far and wide, including Australia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Slovenia, and the UK.

As usual, we've got great photos of the evening up on the FND Photo Blog. Unfortunately, Santa was a no-show this year, but we did have some nice goodies to give away nonetheless. Congrats to Dominick, Rick, Steve, and our other prize winner (sorry, can't remember her name). We hope you enjoyed the wine and the shirts.

We'd like to thank the Enoteka wine pub and Ljubljana Life Magazine for sponsoring the free wine and snacks. Thanks also to Sloveniarelo.com for sponsoring more free wine as well as the free polo shirts. And lets not forget Valerija for suggesting that we give away free FND bras next time!
